BEN CLEMENT x WONDERBAO
Wonderful

As the story goes, there were two young soles in search for enlightenment. They pondered and wondered on how they may achieve the most greatest source of enrichment.

Many offerings were left as a sign of their true following. After many moons the two chosen ones are a step
closer to oneness with the Bao, which is the highest achievement of flavour and knowledge, many try to obtain it but fail quickly. As the Bao is lifted high one last time before the first bite, a sense of euphoria and the most fulfilling of emotions and quite literally stomachs, enlightenment is received, their lives are enriched beyond anything and they now sit in unison with the wonderful Bao.

As time goes on, the hunger begins to grow again, the void is re-opening. Before it gets to hot to handle, the
sriracha of all sacrifices. An open heart and open mouth to pay the ultimate price to be with the wonderful
Bao.

WonderBao Kitchen is a Melbourne favourite of mine and I have always loved making a trip to the city to fill myself up on the food– so much so that I would constantly rave to friends and take new people there all the time.

When Nat and myself came up with the idea of a mixed still life and fashion based shoot with the WonderBao menu, we wanted to create this other worldly religious like experience with the food. It was as if the Bao’s were at the peak of human achievement and something that once obtained was the best thing you could have in life.

Our models start off in a daze, of being unfulfilled but with a sense of yearning. As they head out on their journey for enrichment they spend their time giving up offerings in hope it will help them get to the end of their journey quicker.

When they finally get a taste of the Bao they are completely fulfilled and enlightened. But when the hunger sets back in they go one step too far and sacrifice themselves in hope they will be with the Bao forever…
